(268,931 posts)during a conference planning meeting. I got up and made a cup for myself and sat down. The other male did the same. He did not say another word.
I waited until the meeting finished and told him that i would publicly humiliate him if he ever tried that again.

Female Republicans are becoming even more unwelcome in positions of authority than they always were. Their numbers, never rising above low, declined in the Year of the Women as the Republican hierarchy helped elect men over them. Last year their house caucus had 23 women; now it's 13 (!), and those're angry and feeling embattled from working in a hostile environment. Some of the Pathetic 13 have decided not to run for reelection because of it.
Notably, this is another indicator of rising fascistic leanings in that party. Fascism isn't just an archconservative ideology, it's a male-dominance one as well. And that's a big part of its success, with too many male populists, left and right, angered by perceived loss of male status, joined by some female cons who believe in and/or are most comfortable with the assigned role and resent seeing women successful in "men's" jobs.

(58,785 posts)the ACTIONS they take to deny women equality under the law, in the workplace, for healthcare, family and parental rights, politics, etc. That's because most of them know they can act quietly far more safely than than they could admit what and why they're doing.
And that makes all women who fail to stand against them for any reason genuinely dumber than even them. Noting how often those they put their trust in deliberately fail to point out the especially high stakes for women and minorities in not voting for Democrats. 'Cause we're "really no different from Republicans." Right.

(25,393 posts)I was in my airline pilot uniform, waiting on the crew to muster to head to the airport for red-eye flight to Philly. It was about 10 pm on a Friday night in a busy lobby of a downtown hotel. A drunk man, with a sober woman, pushed a luggage cart my way, and flashed me a $20 bill.
"Here," he slurred. "Take these to room 1145, and be descreet." He shoved the twenty my way. Like Dr. Hill, I was perplexed. But, I too, just walked away.
But to this day, I wish I had taken his $20 and said, "Yes sir! Room 1145, sir!" Then I should have taken their luggage to another floor, and rolled the cart into a janitorial closet.

(82,849 posts)Presumably, someone eventually got it through to President Trump's peanut brain who Dr. Hill is, and rather than behave like a normal human being (i.e., apologize), Trump got pissed and remains pissed at Dr. Hill to this day. For his mistake.
