I saw that Pence did, but I can understand that--he seems to understand the mind of subservient creatures ever loyal to their master and so it only makes sense they had a connection.

I didn't see any sign of affection from Trump, though.

I mean, come on. It's a dog. Not even a "Good boy" pat on the head?

I think that this is the first White House, at least in our times, where there are no pets. Not even a canary..

He positioned himself to the other side of Pence to move away from her (the dog) and Melania stayed as far away as she could while still being in frame.

The dog behaved herself, unfortunately. No vicious maulings or unpleasant "accidents".
