That's nice. Its a fine sentiment and a great way to hope this is not all going to end the way things went in 1914 or 1939 or 1861. It just won't matter IMO...it did not in 2000 in FL, in 2004 in OH or in MI, PA, WI in 2016.

Not a damn thing has changed at all since 2015...literally nothing. People STILL use social media as if it were true...millions are easily duped into fighting and don't see the hands pulling the strings, stacking the decks, rigging the results. The economy is completely the same as its been since about 1975 - with the gains stuck in the top 0.1%, the top 10% getting by and the rest falling further behind daily, hourly even. Social issues are NOT solved or addressed, they are crisis managed off the front pages and number of likes and retweets but still simmer and burn with resentments and ill will.
Trump was 'elected' (with the help of Russians, an archaic monument to pandering to slave owners in the 18th century that allows a candidate to garner more votes and STILL watch the loser assume the office anyway, and craven GOP cowards) and he is utterly inept, unqualified, a total disaster and STILL he commands nearly 43% of this country's TOTAL subservience and capitulation. Instead of reality exposing this shit storm for what it is, it seems to slide off like Teflon coating is preventing it from sticking at all.
He has bribed, extorted, fired competence without cause or reason, installed ignorance and graft and hate without consequence, demanded loyalty while giving none, wiped his ass with the Constitution, destroyed the rule of law and undermined the military chain of command and discipline...and projects to be re-elected anyway. Honestly, I admire your hope...hope that knocking on doors will overcome millions of ignorant dupes willing to believe ANYTHING if gives them a scapegoat or frees them from confronting reality.
This man and his insanity should be polling below 25% AT FUCKING BEST and he remains EXACTLY where he was before Mueller, before Ukraine, before Impeachment, before 2016, before 2020...its a goddamn Greek tragedy in real time and I can't change the channel or see a way out of this mess. I wish you the best in holding onto that hope, but much like prisoners serving life sentences, or maybe just the exercise yard wisdom of Red from "The Shawshank Redemption"...hope can be a dangerous thing. I am not Andy Dufraine by any means right now...
Like I said, I hope with everything left of my tortured and depressed soul that you are right and I am wrong and I can read about it while eating crow next November. But I have no hope. No faith. No belief that this country will survive the next 20 years or that human society will survive the next 100.
