(10,775 posts)80+ EPA regulations rolled back, and behind every one, a GOP donor corporation now making more profit while everyone else bears the risks and the consequences.

(3,487 posts)I have a long history of emergency planning and training. When you see where TX allows dangerous chemical plants to be built, you think of the crazy tabletop drills where they put the chemical plant right next to a school, 2 daycares, a nursing home, and a hospital. When we are given these sorts of crazy scenarios everyone is like, "oh come on! this would never happen". Only in Texas, it does

(2,343 posts)in that area. When I was younger, there were at least a couple others I can remember. I've said in another post, it's gross out there. Some of those neighborhoods basically reside within the refineries themselves. Glad I'm away from there. My grandfather and some other family members had to evacuate. Don't know why they even live in cancer alley.

(62,444 posts)US Rep. Randy Weber:
In January 2014, during President Obama's State of the Union address, Weber in a tweet referred to the President as "Kommandant-In-Chef" [sic] and "the Socialist dictator." After the White House apologized for failing to send a more high profile leader to a demonstration in Paris following the January 2015 terrorist attacks in that city, Weber tweeted, "Even Adolph [sic] Hitler thought it more important than Obama to get to Paris."
That is the man whom the majority of the voting citizens of that fair district believe most ably represents them and their views.
They are obviously in good hands with Mr. Weber and hence I need not concern myself.

(15,180 posts)They only hire the best PR people. But they don't mind shafting everybody that lives in their designated target areas.
ProPublica and others have exposed for several years how the chem industry builds unsafe plants next to vulnerable people. But the politicians are well paid.

MIPC is Military Industrial Political Complex - a phrase that Eisenhower was purportedly wanting to use but was persuaded to drop the "Political" --- since it would be too "political". All the players in the complex are complicit, perhaps especially the politicians since they are supposed to represent US.

There's a reason why Bill Gates has weekly meetings with Traitor Trump. That's a reason why not one single filthy rich family stands in opposition to Traitor Trump.

(11,242 posts)and then an immediate reminder of which people are huge fans of environmental and safety deregulation.
(Sorry for the snark .. and the people injured NEVER deserve the hand their dealt .. but it is probably time that we start, rather emphatically, connecting some dots. Texas has LONG been enthusiastic scofflaw of any kind of common sense regulations.)
