As for us, we're just happy that so far none of us has had any major health issues.

I have heart problems, and my wife has beat cancer twice. Our elder daughter had to have her thyroid removed a few years back, and our little granddaughter hasn't had anything more serious than an ear infection.

So, the fact that 2019 has seen no major health scares suits us just fine. A good friend of ours, whom we have known for over 40 years, was just crippled with two debilitating strokes, and went overnight from being an active doctor to being a basket case who can't even feed himself. No prayers or engorged bank account can buy that life back.

I'm making other healthy changes to make sure I stick around to see the country go blue.

In 2019 I’m most thankful for DU. Without the people here I don’t know where I could have turned for the crippling anxiety I feel with the whole a Trump thing.

Watching the news is no longer something I can trust to be honest and truthful anymore. Or to tell the whole story or not be biased or to hold Republicans accountable for their utterances during interviews.

Frankly I need the DU community to put everything into perspective. There is an overall honesty here. People are made to back up what they claim is news with links and many people know if those links are good ones.

There is instant feedback commentary because we post things as soon as we hear about them. We can and do discuss all kinds of news topics. We can all be experts in our own interests and we can share those interests. We help each other out.

There’s a lot to be thankful for in DU.

Also, that we are fortunate to be able to live life in an extremely comfortable way and with very few personal worries.

It's always a hassle unless you want to spend an arm and a leg on a general contractor. He put in hardy plank and painted.

Last week, we had a plumber who replaced some bathtub fixtures. We discovered the drainpipe was not connected and there was a freaking hole in it!!! (I hadn't used the tub in a few years) We had been getting big old roaches from behind the walls and now we know why!!!
