(34,131 posts)And a huge difference from what we experienced in the UK. Often, we'd stop on corners to figure out where we were going and drivers would stop in case we wanted to cross the road they were on.
We quickly learned that unless we were ready to cross, we needed to stand well away from the corner so we did not inconvenience the very polite UK drivers!
I love the way they use in the video to "train" Quebec drivers to be equally polite.

(25,811 posts)Why in the world don't drivers stop for pedestrians in crosswalks? Is there no law that pedestrians have the right of way? Do drivers never walk themselves?

(11,238 posts)and it kind of depends on where you live as to how well they are enforced .. and how heedless and selfish the drivers are.
(and sorry .. but you need to START your enforcement efforts with the taxi drivers, as a lot of motorist are following what they see there.)
A morning ritual of mine is walking 3 mile an
hour for one hour on the bicycle trail. The desolate
trail is a half mile away on the city streets. I have
to cross two busy streets to get to freedom (trail).
It is difficult crossing the roads even though the
traffic is sparse (I choose non busy times). The speed
limit is 25/35 miles an hour but the drivers think that
is slow.
After a mile or so I develop vertigo (mild) and when
I return to town I have problems crossing side walks
and streets, sidewalks are treacherous.
My message is please beware of pedestrians. Of course
I jaywalk to save time and to stay out of the way.
Enjoy!

Can someone tell me the name of the music that starts at the 31 second mark? I gotta have it.
