(33,497 posts)A new Rasmussen survey in South Carolina finds Mitt Romney just edging Rick Santorum in the GOP presidential race, 27% to 24%, followed by Newt Gingrich at 18%, Ron Paul at 11%, Rick Perry at 5% and Jon Huntsman at 2%.
"Things remain fluid in South Carolina, however, with nearly half the state's primary voters (48%) saying they still could change their minds. Just 41% are certain already of how they will vote. Those certain of their vote include 62% of Paul's supporters, 51% of Perry's backers, 50% of Romney voters. Just 43% of Santorum voters and 36% of Gingrich supporters are locked in at this point."
A new American Research Group poll shows Romney leads with 31%, followed by Gingrich and Santorum tied for second with 24% each.

Still, my feeling is that Santorum should have conceded NH to Romney saying, 'it's his second home and neighboring state' and gone straight to SC after IA. Nobody is going to beat Mitt in NH.

I ask because Romney does well with registered Republicans.

(8,244 posts)I'm expecting an email to go out to the evangelical christian mailing lists in South Carolina explaining how either Mormons eat babies, or Mitt Romney has a secret black love child.

(36,926 posts)When justifying his draconian position on marriage, Santorum said that if you're going to allow same sex marriage, how about allowing 3 men to marry? I think the guy has ISSUES!

(1,546 posts)on perceptions going into SC. If Romney under performs look for his SC support to largely evaporate. Biggest problem at this point appears to be Gingrich and Perry diluting support that would otherwise line-up behind a single NotRomney candidate (i.e., Santorum).
