The Jim Greer Case -- 2012 Season

Haridopolos: Throw out Greer's suit against me

SANFORD – The Florida GOP and Florida Senate President Mike Haridopolos are rehashing old arguments in a new attempt to get a Sanford judge to throw out the lawsuit former party chairman Jim Greer filed against them.

In the suit, Greer says he'll eventually ask for $5 million in damages because the party promised but then failed to pay him $123,000 in severance.

Haridopolos on Tuesday filed court paperwork, alleging that he may have signed the severance contract, but he's not liable because he didn't know that all the other people involved had signed it, too.

That's one of several reasons party officials gave after first saying there was no severance deal. They now contend they didn't pay Greer because he was stealing their money.

I have no idea which way this will go, not because of the law, but because the law will be interpreted in Sanford.
