Heard that yesterday on our local public radio.
It was supposedly said by Mike Huckabee before the 2008 Iowa caucuses.
Sounds like a line that needs to be revived.

(45,771 posts)My boss fired me out of the blue, screaming at me, slamming the door behind him, had his office manager fire me by leaving a message on the home machine. Classy guy.
Less than 15 months later, he decided to run for council. Three slots and ten candidates and he alligned himself with two incumbents running for re-election (on a slate). Well, since I still had free time on my hands, I got busy. I picked up the newspaper and handicapped the other candidates and chose two who looked promising. I contacted them and volunteered to campaign for them.
Fortunately there was a great issue to use against the incumbents: they managed to go over budget on repairs of the town hall by more than three times the estimate. I hammered them on point. We'd all be campaigning with them on the other side of the street. I'd promote our guys, mention the town hall and the wasted tax dollars. I then sent the voters across the street to ask the incumbents if they could explain what exactly happened. I also did that b/c they were giving away donuts and coffee and I wanted to run up their tab.
Long story short: One incumbent made it. One of my guys made it. My boss came in fifth, 7 votes behind the second of my guys. He was humiliated by the loss. And yes, he knew that I was working for the other candidates and that I was working my ass off for them.
That was 9 years ago. He's been strangely muted since that time.
