Amazon bans products claiming to cure coronavirus, shuts down price gouging of face masks

Amazon has removed from its site more than one million products either claiming to cure novel coronavirus or making other false claims.

“Amazon has always required sellers provide accurate information on product detail pages, and we remove those that violate our policies,” a company spokesman said in a statement.

The flu-like coronavirus has killed at least 2,900 people globally and infected at least 83,000, and the first death in the U.S. was reported Saturday morning at EvergreenHealth in Kirkland.

The products are said to have violated Amazon’s Seller Code of Conduct, and the company is suspending or removing selling privileges for many of the accounts.

Getting ready for Burning Man and Arizona's regional Saguaro Man, so I hied me off to Amazon to stock up on military MREs. Great for eating in a "leave no trace" environment.
Prices for a case have skyrocketed to $160! Nearly twice the usual amount.
I had a think, and went to Tucson's Miller's Surplus. $90 for the same item.
Some Amazonians are gouging.
