One of the many yuge flaws in right-wing thinking...

One of the many yuge flaws in right-wing thinking is that they believe they can control and manipulate countries and peoples through markets and profit-making enterprise, all the while ignoring the need for investments in basic societal infrastructures for the health and safety of their peoples. And then something like Covid-19 comes along and the smoke and mirrors at the heart of their philosophy is shown up for how shoddy and fragile it is. A bunch of market and political leaders losing their minds because their carefully constructed commerce at the heart of everything world is fundamentally threatened, because the markets know that the people who rule us are not capable of managing this outbreak in a way that is not going to lead to a pandemic.

Is it any surprise Trump is denial about all of this? He literally does not have a clue what to do. His entire spoilt, bratty, white male privileged life has been about bullying and threatening and whining until he gets his own way and, now, he is encountering an enemy that cannot be corrupted or compromised, it cannot be smeared or sued or cowed and as someone commented on another thread yesterday, you cannot gaslight a pandemic, the pandemic does not care – and it is very worrying that Trump is trying to do this very thing… Media making shit up to make him look bad - Democrats colluding with the rest of the world in a planned hoax… If he cannot get serious about this then he needs to step aside and put some actual bloody experts in charge, because the catastrophe is not that he will fail, it is that his failure in this is life threatening, and he will potentially take so many down with him.

He's never going to become "Presidential"

He's never going to shift his focus

The Republicans who keep him in power are the only ones who might have a conscience - I've lost hope in them, too, but hopefully, they surprise us

tRump will throw paper towels at us. We learned that during his response to the hurricane in Puerto Rico. He cares only about himself and making money

He will keep his family safe. He'll try to make money off of the suffering of others. When you see him floundering, it's because he can't quite see how to get rich off a pandemic

On Monday, he's meeting with the pharmaceutical representatives. I'd bet my life the purpose of that meeting is to explore how he can profit personally

"I've spent time and money to appear nice to you so I could really have sex with you... therefore you need to have sex with me"

Money doesn't get you everything and we're watching the illusion fall apart right in front of our very eyes.

Since 1980-ish, American healthcare is market-based and driven by financials, not healthcare outcomes.

The financial players make more money when people stay sick.

Corona meets Dow 29,000. Are you seeing the results? Stocks are getting whacked from two ends. Fear and the most overpriced market since 1929. Spending will drop off a cliff. (I didn't want to spell precipitously. But see? I can do it!)

Cancelled vacations, cruises, purchases. More market drops for margin calls. Additional decreases in spending. Bankruptcies. Leveraged balance sheets. Stock buybacks amplify financial results, upside or downside. That's all normal for a financial pullback like 2000, 2008.

Add in Corona virus. People afraid to go out. Schools closing. Factories shuttering for weeks. Parts unavailable, impacting manufacturers half way around the globe, and shuttering their operations. Critical parts shut many assembly lines.

We are in for a drubbing. Stable genius has not a clue of what to do, except diss Greta Thunberg.

The full Hitler shall be blamed for the adverse outcome of Corona Virus in America. That's why he's tried to silence the CDC.

... the fact that a pandemic affects everyone, not just the "poors". They're all in favor of the pandemic as long as rich people are safe and protected. It's hogwash of course because all walks of life are affected by an epidemic of anything. The human costs and the $ losses are immeasurable.

They are 30% of the population and they will never recover. They cannot handle complexity or nuance.
