The next time Mayor Pete runs he will get great support from all the Dems I know. He is young and has plenty of time to be pres. He is so smart and has a great deal of ability to uplift people. If we are lucky, he is our future.

(33,643 posts)Progress is being made ... a decent chunk of America will accept the idea of moderate, religious, military veteran, with zero stereotypical mannerisms ... who happens to be gay (but you'd never guess unless you were told) ... as President.
That's not a bash on Pete in any way, but an observation that I'd bet we're still far from, say, Barney Frank ... being a viable POTUS candidate.
Sadly ...

(25,183 posts)I had moved from undecided to Pete Buttigieg, now I'm over in Biden's camp. Got a chance to cast a vote ten days ago by absentee, but it is clear that Mayor Pete cannot swing the African-American vote. He tried mightily especially in SC.
Still, his candidacy and its early success is by any measure, historic.
