Or maybe I'm just reading the wrong front pages.
Rudy Patootie and Lev Parnas.
The last time Rudy was out of the news for a while, when he returned it was with a bang, what with Parnas's claims and other reporting about his possibly criminal activities.
How does a person go from a federal prosecutor to mayor of NYC to likely mobster lawyer and punchline for late night talk show hosts?
I guess it's possible, Look at a host of mayors and governors who've been tried and convicted of this and that. But most of them kind of fade away for the most part. And OJ went from Heisman Trophy to pro football to Hertz icon to acquitted murder to third-rate crook.
But I would still hand Rudy the equivalent of the Oscar for his transformation. Or maybe he was what he is now but hid it well. After all, I've read that he basically took credit at SDNY for stuff he didn't really do. And he was majorly disliked by many as mayor. And since then he's coasted on connections.
In any case, he's off the front pages at the moment, supplanted by a deadlier virus. (Thank you to MLAA for recommending the change from deadly virus to deadlier virus. Excellent point, too, because that's what Trump & co. are - a virus.)
