Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey won a high-profile ally on Monday, as Elon Musk voiced his support for Dorsey amid an escalating battle to oust him from the top job.
"Just want to say that I support @jack as Twitter CEO," Musk tweeted, adding that Dorsey has a good heart, using the heart emoji.
Dorsey is under attack from billionaire Paul Singer's activist hedge fund Elliott Management, which has amassed a nearly 5% stake in Twitter and is launching a pressure campaign to replace Dorsey in the top job, according to media reports. Elliott will make that case that Dorsey, who is also CEO at Square, is not focused enough on Twitter, according to Bloomberg, which first reported the news.
Musk is also the chief executive of two companies, wearing the CEO hat at electric car maker Tesla and space exploration company SpaceX. And Musk has a long history of picking fights with financial foes, particularly the short-sellers that have long targeted Tesla's stock.

(118,021 posts)instead. The is something called goodwill the gop don't like to talk about. It used to be in the books and lack of it would affect sales. Now there is so much noise, rarely does a business story get big enough to affect company goodwill. Bet ya Twitter takeover by an anti-democratic oligarch is a big enough story, and directly affects so many people's desire for good information, that it might blow up in his face if he tries anything.

(7,511 posts)The glitterati love it. The GOP have always wanted to sit with the cool kids at lunch, but the cool kids aren't having any of it. The problem is if they force their way to the table (buying Twitter), the cool kids will just leave and find another table.
If used properly Twitter could be a very powerful political weapon. The problem for the GOP is that they only know how to bludgeon things. They have absolutely no finesse.
Shitler desperately wants to be able to Tweet unchallenged by us pesky dissenting citizens. Having people like Stephen King and Bette Midler and Rob Reiner calling you a turd to your face has gotta hurt his uncontrollable ego.
