Could Trump try to postpone the 2020 election if Coronavirus is affecting the stock market in Oct.?

I can already see the frustration with the virus infestation.

At one point he even said it wasn't his fault. It's not fair, he was claiming.

I can even see him at least floating the idea of election postponement.

Probably not, but all bets are off with this bozo.

elections--not to mention those of the territories. There is no legal provision for doing so. Could congress intercede to provide funds for mail-in ballots for all 50 states? Sure, but it would be working within the constutionally provided timeline.

Even during the Civil War we had elections. There is no mechanism for
postponing an election.

by which he might try.

Could he use the spread of Coronovirus as a case for Martial Law? "Emergency conditions call for emergency measures," etc.

Even his brain-dead cult followers might well be awakened from the dead on that one.

This comment may well come into play: (Robert Kuttner)

One must hope that Trump pays a dear price in November. Unless Chief Justice John Roberts, who detests Trump, is more of a shill for Trump than he appears, even martial law won’t cancel the election.

Can DU go just ONE day without these Chicken Little “Trump is going to cancel/postpone the election and/or declare martial law” OPs.

People need to get a fucking grip.

it is that all bets, norms, etc. are off with Trump and his Regime. Add in McConnell running the Senate, Barr at "Justice", and a 5/4 Conservative bent at the Supreme Court, plus complicit Republican Congresspeople and anything can happen.

And stop the calendar on Monday November 2. Like Groundhog Day just repeat the same day so it never becomes election day...

There are many things he can try but very few he can do.
