Jeff Sessions Fails To Win GOP Nomination For His Old Senate Seat Outright
The GOP primary will be heading to a March 31 runoff.
By Amanda Terkel
Jeff Sessions was once one of President Donald Trumps closest allies and became his attorney general but they had a falling-out when Sessions recused himself from the Russia investigation.
The battle to pick the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in Alabama is headed to a March 31 runoff.
Jeff Sessions, President Donald Trumps former attorney general who served as senator until 2017, will face former Auburn University football coach Tommy Tuberville.
Sessions should have been a shoo-in for his old seat. He represented the state in the Senate for 20 years before joining the Trump administration.

He's been a football coach here and in texas for decades, and he is not overly bright.
Sounds like our Ala. Repubs are punishing Sessions.
FWIW, we had heavy turnout today.

(7,411 posts)"Con man" would be a better term. If elected, he will start stuffing his pockets as quickly as he can. He won't be able to help himself and I wouldn't be surprised if he gets caught with his hand in the cookie jar -- again.

(6,474 posts)maybe he'd split the electorate between Auburn and Alabama fans and Doug Jones can sneak through again-although probably both Auburn and Alabama fans would vote against Tuberville-Texas Tech fans wished they they could vote too

(11,443 posts)not much of anything at Texas Tech and Cincinnati. Actually, he left Auburn's program in a shambles with some of the stupid shit he did the last two years there.

(7,411 posts)There are Auburn people who are firmly conservative but wouldn't vote for Tuberville to be dog catcher. He burned a lot of bridges at every place he's been. Ol' Miss, Auburn, Texas Tech and Cincinnati ranks are filled with fans who realized too late he took them for a ride.
