When the right wing responds to the debate about "should there be billionaires?"....

.....with their usual talking points, I interrupt them and say "I'll give you, for the purpose of this discussion, all of your points. Free market economy, capitalism, productivity, personal responsibility and ambition, hard work, creating jobs for others, American ingenuity, the right for everyone to succeed and prosper, blah, blah, blah. You can have all that, but it's not worth it to any of us if having billionaires hurts our democracy. With that kind of wealth, a few of them, not all, but a few of them can and will pervert our democracy and you will lose your say in how this country runs."

Should there be people who live on the street because they can't afford rent?
Should there be people who die because they cannot afford health care?

Check out the sports world: When a player drops a fly ball or tips the pass to a DB, the announcer says the other team "capitalized on the miscue".

In other words, they took advantage of the situation.

The 70% of the American economy is driven by consumer spending.

If wealth and income continues to concentrate in the hands of the top 1%, what do you think will happen to an economy dependent on consumer spending? It's ain't good, I can tell you that!

We are already to the point where many supposedly middle-class people cannot afford a middle-class lifestyle.
