I think Trump is scheming to dump Pence.

By appointing silverdome as the coronavirus czar, he is almost certain to fail. Then he can lay all the blame squarely at Pence's feet and throw him in the shitcan for 2020, meanwhile Trump gets himself another free pass. Since a sleazebag like Trump would sell his own mother for the right price, he would do it without batting a eye.

That leaves Trump free to pick Nikki Haley as his new running mate, and the right would jump right on board.

I've long said that it would be political suicide for Trump to dump Pence, since the fundies love him so much. But, if he F's up, then it would show that Gawd was not really on his side, and the fundies might allow Trump to abandon Pence.

But I cannot believe that the evangelicals would warm up all that much to Haley. She's a woman and a "foreigner".
