The House should immediately start impeachment proceedings against AG Barr based upon the judges's ruling below. This needs to be done now. Otherwise Barr will continue to abuse his power as the head of the FBI to persecute Democratic candidates all across the country in this all important election year. Barr can also prevent the feds from investigating voter suppression and election hacking. He can threaten to prosecute those who attempt to register (Democratic) people to vote. He can get on TV and spout all kinds of lies about Biden. And you know he will do it. The man is absolutely shameless.
The worst that can happen is the Senate under Moscow Mitch will declare "The attorney general is above the law! (If he is a Republican)" which will make any abuse of power committed by Barr during the election suspect in the eyes of US voters as well as revealing the GOP for the treasonous law breaking scum that they are.
The best that can happen is that the Senate can throw Barr under the bus--and I doubt that Trump will find anyone as willing to trash his own reputation as Barr in order to serve the Moscow Mob. Just look at what happened after the Dems got rid of Alberto Gonzales who had vowed to file a whole bunch of criminal indictments of Democrats who had just taken over Congress in the 2005 election.
From the NYT
Mr. Barr could not be trusted, Judge Reggie B. Walton said, citing inconsistencies between the attorney generals statements about the report when it was secret and its actual contents that turned out to be more damaging to President Trump. Mr. Barrs lack of candor called into question his credibility and, in turn, the departments assurances to the court, Judge Walton said.
The judge ordered the Justice Department to privately show him the portions of the report that were censored in the publicly released version so he could independently verify the justifications for those redactions. The ruling came in a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit seeking a full-text version of the report.
Read Judge Waltons ruling.
The differences between the report and Mr. Barrs description of it cause the court to seriously question whether Attorney General Barr made a calculated attempt to influence public discourse about the Mueller report in favor of President Trump despite certain findings in the redacted version of the Mueller report to the contrary, wrote Judge Walton, an appointee of President George W. Bush.

(12,712 posts)Judging just by his speech to Religious Broadcasters not long ago, while we could assume some pandering to their intentions, Barr expressed some strong religious and theocratic views about the separation of church and state, etc.
That was very disturbing because it was coming from the Attorney General of the United States, otherwise, that viewpoint and movement is not news since we know that's a anti-democratic movement in itself.

(2,143 posts)Barr's behavior has been outrageous violations of law and precedent. Impeachment proceedings might give him pause for thought before he does more destructive things.

(15,933 posts)Not sure but that could be even worse but she would have to be confirmed by the senate. So, we'd have to stall the process.
