Food stocked. Water stocked.

COVID-19 that I see there are too many "ifs" to satisfy me that the numbers are accurate. I'm already
afraid so that's why I'm focusing on survival/treatment developments. I'm sure many of us are doing
that...

And social distancing can help save lives

Small price to pay

Treatments can’t succeed if medical capacity is exceeded

We must concentrate on slowing the inevitable progress is what the numbers conclude.
We can each do our small part

New cases and deaths are dropping like a rock. And that is an area where the virus should be spreading like wildfire since people live packed together.

Today'ss NYT:

Hubei, the Chinese province at the center of the coronavirus outbreak, reported on Saturday that for two consecutive days, the province had seen no new infections outside its capital, Wuhan. The news confirmed that China’s new cases and deaths are increasingly concentrated in that city, where the virus emerged, while the rest of the province — and the rest of the country — are largely spared.

Hubei reported 74 new infections on Saturday, all in Wuhan. China also recorded 24 cases in people who had arrived from abroad, including 17 in Gansu, a northwest Chinese province. Excluding the infections in Wuhan and among arrivals from abroad, there was only one other new infection in the rest of China.

China also reported 28 deaths among those with the virus, all in Hubei Province. By comparison, there were 49 deaths from the virus in Italy on Friday.

The downward trend in China is a result of an all-out effort by the government to contain the spread of the disease, which has come at a great cost to the country’s economy and its social life. Since January, the government has enacted nationwide quarantine and travel restrictions and placed Hubei under a strict lockdown, effectively penning in 56 million people. The new numbers reflect a steep decline from just a few weeks earlier. At one point in early February, Hubei reported more than 1,400 new cases outside Wuhan in one day.

Would tRumpanzees submit to statewide lockdown?

Would tRump use it as a way to go full-on authoritarian and cancel or delay Nov 2020?

Would anyone submit to a statewide lockdown? The answer is no. Americans have different values than the Chinese who have been under one form of authoritarian government or another forever. I don't dismiss some of the items mentioned in the OP. It would go along ways in reducing many of the diseases we have including the common flu which so far kills far more than the c-virus.

Forgive some of my figures but it takes the work of roughly a million people to field 100,000 soldiers material, food, ammunition general logistics both civilian and military. Of the 100,000 soldiers on line casualties of 10% are devastating to cohesion of the cause. Specific units may have casualty rates as high as 80%.

The potential devastation of a calamity of infection with a rate of 4 for every case recorded with 4% death would terrify any sane battlefield commander. Add to that count anyone who contracts this virus as a casualty removed from containing the contagion. War and pandemics are hell. When people are led by idiots war as a choice results, when pandemics happen apparently idiots also have a role to play.

Easy because we are retired too. We stocked up on dry goods a few weeks back seeing this coming.

This is not a time to think "I'm healthy, I'll take the risk, I'll go out for an optional even, or shop, or have a coffee". It is a time to realize, even though I'm healthy, there is a chance I can get infected, and that means a chance I can spread it.

The only way to make that chance go to zero is with complete isolation, -- don't allow yourself to become a link in the transmission chain. That is not practical for many reasons, but even reducing that chance a little bit has huge impacts on the spread.

If you can reduce your social contacts by half do it now. If we all could reduce our social contacts by half -- the impact is to slow the spread by about half too.

I’m a fresh foodie (in addition to my stock of rice pasta & legumes) so I go to store at 10:00 am when new produce is being brought out from delivery. The produce crew are kind & let me get from new stock with my blue gloves hands ☺️

I wash in sink with a titch of bleach, rinse well & store in my own bags.

I do the same to any packaged foods or stuff as well like organic box of veggie broth, cough drops & canisters of pea protein...you get the gist. Disinfect everything we bring into the house.

I will treasure in water & salt & then emerge in boiling water for 3 minutes.

With lots of prepped crisp veggies, a wide variety of meals can be quickly assembled.

I like mine in a simple dressing made from 2:1 rice vinegar:Braggs aminos, a titch of sesame oil & cayenne powder for a bit of heat.

“eat it if you can peel it” is a good precaution for fresh foods for at risk people as well. Of course disinfect first & wash hands before eating

Caution is our friend.

Be safe dear ones
Namaste
