Trump has literally put himself in control of all of our government agencies. Including the agencies that protect our health. Everyone that works for Trump is nothing but a puppet that must do what Trump wants. Trump makes all the final decisions, of all of are government agencies. Experts, facts, science do not matter to Trump. Anyone that disagrees with him will be removed.
It is time the news media and others tell the American people the truth. A madman has declared himself king. Trump himself, will decide what is best for the people. He will decide what's best for us when it comes to the virus. Trump has already indirectly killed a lot of people. If this is allowed to continue many of us are going to die.
Trump is not trying to become a king, he is one. We are in great danger.

(4,379 posts)It's time we all face the truth. He has gotten rid of all the people who disobey him, who will not do everything he wants them to do. He has put in place people who are not qualified and who are complete puppets. Trump does not lead, he does not care about anything except himself and he demands complete obedience from all the people who work for him. Do what I want or else. Trump is a madman and we as a nation are not responding in a normal way.
Trump; Do not test people, that will make me look bad. That my friends is a death sentence for many of us. That is proof he is a madman.

AND, EVEN IF TRUMP IS DEFEATED, BY HOOK OR BY CROOK, THE REPUBLICANS WILL INSTALL HIM FOR A SECOND TERM.
Their COUP is now at "Check-Mate with the Impeachment failing.
The Republicans OWN the Presidency.......
The Republicans OWN the Senate.........
The Republicans OWN The Supreme Court
The Republicans OWN a bigger and bigger share of Appellate Court Judges
The Republicans OWN the Department of Justice
The Republicans OWN the FEC and all that regulate the Banks and Stock Market including retirement funds.......
The Republicans OWN the IRS, lock, stock and barrel
The Republicans OWN the EPA, Dept of Interior, etc etc etc etc
The Republicans OWN 80+% of ALL media in the U.S.
The Republicans have proclaimed that ANY foreign government or oligarch, can donate any amount of money to their candidates
The Republicans have proclaimed that ANY foreign government, even an enemy, can freely interfere in any election in the U.S.
The Republicans have proclaimed themselves free of having to adhere to the Constitution, or any Rule of Law for that matter.
The Republicans have damn near declared the top 1% a tax free group, as well as any and all U.S. Corporations.
The Republicans also own 50+ or - Million MAGAT'S Voters brains that are so ignorant and stupid that they still do not recognize he hates them as much as us who disagree with all that they are doing, and that the Republican's actions are fucking them over as much as they are fucking us over. (Sorry, but I have to include in that group many Dem's, who for forty years, have had THEIR heads in the sand. And are NOW just BEGINNING to painfully realize that WASF.
We are about to witness the most horrific thing anyone has ever seen on November 3rd, and November 4th forward.........

(32,633 posts)The GOP doesn't own those things, unless we tell them they do. So stop telling them exactly that.
Everything will change in November, Chump will lose the White House and the GOP will lose the Senate.
The people who unfairly lost their jobs in government (through Chump) will get them back again in the new Democratic administration. It will take a little bit of time but order will be restored once Chump is gone.

there are real causes and effects and solutions.

(81,220 posts)He surrounds himself with gold. And gold stuff. In his penthouse he had gold drapes, gold furniture, gold chairs with fancy carved scrollwork that looked like thrones, gold carpets. He had photos of himself with Melania wearing a gold dress. He has his hair colored blond (read: gold). And in the Oval Office, floor-to-ceiling gold drapes and, I think, the big oval yellow area rug that, if memory serves, dubya had installed and President Obama kept.
Remember, hes first and foremost A SHOWMAN. Remember. He made a big dramatic entrance onstage on the GOP CONventions nomination night, appearing, backlit, from clouds of fog.
Remember. The staging and trappings and the big-ass Imperial-style military parade hes yearned for since the Russians helped him steal the White House.
Remember. I remember hearing about his mother being interviewed and saying his dad told him from the time he was still a kid that he was a king.
And his behavior now manifests consistent with the staging and trappings and visual cues - as an individual who wants to be thought of and treated as a king.
Or even an emperor.
But in his case its the one with no clothes.

That's who he is. There are no royalty trappings. No princes, princesses (not really, Ivanka). There is only the Dictator. Trump CAN'T give any deference to any semblance of a royal family. It's Trump who Dictates. That's the beginning and the end.

A key characteristic of a tyrant is that they do not plan for their own removal.
Pay no attention to the clown soiling his pants in the king costume. Listen to the helpers and the competent people. They are everywhere and working their butts off to keep us out of the ditch.

(10,749 posts)Journalists undoubtedly have sources at the upper levels of any number of federal agencies. They wouldn't be doing their jobs if they didn't. But they also probably have friends and friends of friends ans spouses of friends who work at all levels of federal agencies.
Some - many? - of these sorts of people are in positions to provide ground level views of what's going on. Of attitudes, expectations, corruption, waste/fraud/mismanagement, etc. Surely these journalists can find stories of the kind of things the OP refers to. Of directives to STFU about everything, of directives to skew reporting, of the impact of budget cuts. Yes, we know that the government is destroying places sacred to the Native Americans. We know of decisions that have horrifying environmental impacts. But what about gridlock and ineptitude created by trump appointees in agencies that perform important functions, e.g., veterans services, air safety and transportation safety overall, public education - not at the macro level but at the ground level, where we can see the impact on real people in real communities - red and blue.
Or maybe I'm just pissing up a rope expecting any of this to be reported.

(1,587 posts)intention of ruling and not governing. His open admiration of despotic rulers, his statement that he was easy to work for as he made all the decisions that preceded his purging of all government agencies, and his massive corruption. For confirmation simply look at the types of people he has surrounded himself with. The crook has become a dictator as laws do not apply to him, and importantly, to his family and those he chooses to be immune from punishment for crimes committe against society. The flouting of laws is currently at an epidemic level, while his deluge of lies are treated as newsworthy. Make no mistake - we not only have a madman with the capability of destroying the world, but a despot who values only one life - his own.

(6,513 posts)There is no royal lineage here. He's an individual who seized power without a shot fired. He's a mobster. We still don't know his involvement with the killing of Kashoggi (sp,) but that's all that's left, for all dictators eventually kill their political opponents and anyone who crosses them.
So far, Trump is concentrated on firing anyone he doesn't like, but he has all the earmarks of following the typical pattern. If he gets reelected, he will drop all pretense of following the Constitution. He'll just assume the role of dictator. That's my opinion, of course, but he looked like a dictator three years ago.

Step 2 is getting people to believe in these institutions and follow the guidance of doctors, scientists, and other qualified experts again.
