PSA: If you are planning a trip overseas, check the state dept website first....

My wife has been planning a trip to Uzbekistan. There are no identified cases of CV-19 there, and they don't have any travel bans announced. She thought she was still on for the trip.

When she checked the State Dept site, it had a declaration that anyone arriving who had been in any one of a list of countries - including the USA - within the past 2 weeks, would be subjected to a 14 day quarantine.

That effectively ends the trip.

I also heard of a friend who was going to travel to Egypt, and they have a similar policy.

So it is becoming common for forced quarantines but not outright bans.

Check before you go. It would suck to land and be forced into a hotel for 2 weeks.......

to be travelling, internationally or domestic. It still worries me that just a week ago we got off of a flight from Portland, Oregon to Charlotte, NC. We were waiting in the PDX airport when the report of the first US coronavirus death in the US (in WA state) hit the news.

Had we known that it would have spread from China so fast, we would have cancelled the trip. Nobody has the bliss of ignorance as an excuse anymore.

I haven't been able to find a site that bars entry to individuals coming from the US to Usbekistan - so the sites I'm finding are obviously not where your wife is looking.

(I'm interested in another site so I can pass the info on to a friend who hopes to travel around the end of May)
