(6,110 posts)1. So how many un-confirmed cases are out there
infecting others without realizing it? I ask because many get mild symptoms and don't need to go to doctor or hospital.

(23,738 posts)3. They say "one' in Wisconsin...at UW Hospital
UW Hospital is located in the middle of a big ten university with over 40,000 students. About a tenth to a quarter of which are international, and all came back to campus in January.
"One".
Nope.
I don't even know if they can test anyone here yet.

And over 70 under observation.

(34,061 posts)2. Significantly different than this map
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/us/coronavirus-us-cases.html
Which includes 2 cases in SC, 22 in Texas, 14 in NE, 99 in CA. (And 21 dead - 18 in WA, 1 in CA, and 2 in FL)
Worldometers.info has 484 confirmed cases; Johns Hopkins has 497.

(10,667 posts)6. since march 2 (when there were 88 cases in the US), it's been doubling every 2.24 days
In February, case count was doubling every 7.75 days.
Ms. Toad
(34,061 posts)8. That matches my calculations based on daily growth of 1.37
Almost exactly (1.37^2.24 = 2.02)

(34,195 posts)10. I think the U.S. doesn't really know
We don't have the testing equipment to find out.
I suspect if we did, our numbers would be higher.
And I suspect Trump doesn't want us to know 'cause it'd make him look bad.
