Dr. Anthony Fauci, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, on Sunday refused to rule out isolating areas of the US where coronavirus outbreaks are particularly severe.
You know, you dont want to alarm people, but given the spread weve seen, you know, anythings possible, Fauci said on Fox News. And thats the reason why weve got to be prepared to take whatever action is appropriate to contain and mitigate the outbreak.
Fauci appeared on at least two television news shows to issue his warning. He also offered advice for those most vulnerable to infection and complications, saying they should avoid cruises, flights and large gatherings.
So far, there are more than 450 coronavirus cases reported in 33 states.

I've got a better idea. Let's make the test more widely available.
I'm from the Seattle area and I'm supposed to attend a wedding in Phoenix towards the end of April. Are these assholes going to refund my tickets?

(33,992 posts)So, while I feel for you, I'm more concerned about taking the steps necessary to slow down the spread to a rate our health care system can handle. It's a matter of life and death.
I do agree that we need more kits available. I'm not sure that will prevent the need for quarantienes
We have a medical conference we go to every year - scheduled for April this year. They cancelled it Friday. We lost $20 per room on the hotel, and we have money sitting with SouthWest that we have to use within a year or lose.
As to the hotel - I think they are going to be hurting, so I don't begrudge them the $20 per room. I'm a lot more sympathetic toward companies as I look at the employees who might lose benefits, jobs, or more. My daughter who is working in a brand new job in Starbucks (after EarthFAre went bankrupt). I haven't told her, but I expect her hours will be dramatically cut in the next few weeks and - as the last hired, she may be the first fired. (She has proven valuable enough in her first few days of training that she may overcome that presumption - but who knows.)
