Italy's virus situation is getting worse, much worse

"The death toll from the coronavirus outbreak in Italy has jumped by at least 133 in the past 24 hours, bringing its total to 366. The move came as the country struggles to contain the virus's spread, with 1,247 new cases detected in the last 24 hours - a 25 percent surge. As of Sunday, Italy confirmed 7,375 infections."

"Italy reported a huge jump in deaths from the coronavirus on Sunday, a surge of more than 50 percent from the day before, as it ordered an unprecedented peacetime lockdown of its wealthiest region in a sweeping effort to fight the epidemic. The extraordinary measure restricted movement for a quarter of the country’s population."

Italy is around the same size as California.

California is approximately 403,882 sq km, while Italy is approximately 301,340 sq km. Meanwhile, the population of California is ~37.3 million people (24.9 million more people live in Italy). We have positioned the outline of California near the middle of Italy.

has a better form of healthcare than the US, too. Better to get tested, treatment and care. Many US citizens can not afford to see a doctor, and even if they do, where are the tests? Many people will go to work with minor symptoms, too, not being able to afford time off. What will it take to wake people up, about the complete incompetence of this administration?

It goes to the heart of the perils of unfettered capitalsim. We are living in a mostly Ayn Rand dystopia. Trump is just a symptom.

Will begin to worry when granny gets sick.

All DonTheCon is worried about:
Dow opens ~1300 down and "Treasury yields crater as oil crashes amid all-out price war."

He cannot bullshit this away.

They might have no symptoms but already be infectious. They should have quarantined people for two weeks regardless if they had any symptoms or not, if they were coming back from China (especially Wuhan).
But US isn't screening people coming back from Italy either, as far as I can tell. That lady in Missouri (whose father attended father daughter dance with his other daughter), she came back from Italy.

those with symptoms were hospitalized. Those without were screened and then sent home to self-isolate or if the risk was high enough faced a quarantine order

That was how all countries should have handled it in the beginning

between France and Ireland is in serious doubt, and will likely be postponed today.

In England they're meeting to decide whether to play Premier League games behind closed doors.

Crazily, the annual Cheltenham horse jump racing festival is going ahead tomorrow, where you'll have 70,000 people turning up, including 25,000 Irish travelling over. And as a lot of those are from rural areas in Ireland and the UK, this could explode around both islands quickly.

10. Italy has the second oldest population in the world which means their going to see more cases, more

deaths percentage wise than anyone else. Iran has a younger population compared to other countries in comparison. Japan is the oldest pop in the world so if it gets out of control there, watch out.
