But we must remember the shear incompetence in which they carried them out. Iraq was a war crime and a clusterfuck of Heritage Foundation assholes screwing up. And of course there was Brownie.

But they look like Rhodes Scholars compared to the current Stooges running things.

1. The Bush administration was comprised mostly of neocons who screwed up Iraq

because their underlying foreign policy was idiotic. Unlike Trump they had a policy; it just was a bad one, and of course its implementation proved to be disastrous. With a few exceptions like Brownie (and to a considerable extent Bush himself), most of Bush's people weren't incompetent in the same way that Trump's people are - they were experienced people (Cheney, Rumsfeld, Powell, Rice) with bad ideas, while Trump's people are inexperienced people with no ideas and no motivation except to suck up to the boss and grift off the government. Bush merely sucked. Trump sucks hard enough to bend light.

6. Bush was a mediocre schlub who was kicked upstairs through family connections,

and once there he faithfully toed the Republican line and followed the directions of the guy who was really in charge, Cheney. I don't think Bush, unlike Trump, acted out of malice and spite or with an intent to take personal financial advantage of his position. I recently read that a group of historians has now declared Trump to be the very worst president ever, displacing James Buchanan and moving Bush to #8 from the bottom.
