I'm not bad and I hope it's something else. But how the hell would I know. I'm high risk and if this gets worse I have a good Dr. & Medicare.
Wish me luck.

And then there is that-my Wife and 2 daughters work retail. I did no hugs just wave the last week 1/2 it is weird.
We have supplies.
I just wonder if I should notify my Dr ahead of time. On Fox Azar was lying saying there are test kits galore anyone can be tested. I wish....

I think we're well into the community spread mode now.

(14,289 posts)I was worried I had COVID-19, but my temperature was low, so its just a cold.
Laura PourMeADrink
(42,770 posts)that your temp had to be, what 104? To have the COVIS-19? How did they know that so Quickly? Everyone who contracted had a 104 temp? Same with incubation period of two weeks.
My point is did they have enough of a sample with accumulated data to say these things as gospel? Unless you knew the exact point of a victim encountered an infected person and counted days and all we're two weeks or less?
stillcool
(32,626 posts)Laura PourMeADrink
(42,770 posts)But havent seen what the temp point is for suspecting COVID19. Yet have read that people are saying their fever wasnt high enough to get tested. Did read 104, in general, is not life threatening 106-108 is super serious.
emmaverybo
(8,144 posts)stillcool
(32,626 posts)but the 101.4 number is stated twice. First that it is a fever, and further down says if it's 100.4 to call the emergency room. I thought it made sense that the 2 numbers could be confused. But then there's stories of people not being able to test, because their fever wasn't high enough. The parameters are ridiculous, so who knows? I wonder about different facilities treating it differently also. But, I know I have never had a 104 fever.
MuseRider
(34,095 posts)number given for considering a fever. Call, it will not hurt and if you get really sick really fast you will already be started with your doc.
stillcool
(32,626 posts)and then down further, it says if you have a temperature of 100.4 or higher call the emergency room I have read that 104 number elsewhere, but then it made sense that 100.4, and 104 could easily be confused.
MuseRider
(34,095 posts)you likely will need someone else to call for you. That is a terrible fever. 105 and we put you in an ice bath in the ICU.
100.4 is worth considering calling the doc.

(16,616 posts)You'll be our thoughts.
These cases of people falling ill who've done everything they can to limit exposure will be interesting to figure out.
I still wonder about the possibility of it coming through shipped items and raw fruits and vegetables. It's frustrating how little we know (or are being told) about transmission.

(4,167 posts)Are you over 50? Over 60?
Do you have underlying conditions such as diabetes, hypertension or cancer?
If you're under 40 and otherwise fairly healthy, chances are that you will only have fairly mild symptoms even if you do have coronavirus. The biggest risk will be for people that you might unwittingly infect who are in those risk groups above.

(10,140 posts)I was sick a few weeks ago but it turned out to be just the regular flu because I didn't get any lung issues. At least that is what I and the Doctor think cause they never tested me.
Even the regular flu is bad enough.
OK, just saw a video...I think it was a right wing site...that had this deathly ill looking man in his mid 60s saying he recovered from the coronavirus with hardly any symptoms and he felt fine now. But man he looked awful...maybe it was just bad lighting. But he said he hardly noticed anything. Hope that was true.

(27,794 posts)You have all these risk factors yet it was essential that you had to go to Kohl's to do an Amazon return? What was this essential item that you had to buy and return, and why did it have to be through Kohl's?

LisaM
(27,794 posts)But I'm still curious. This is a public health situation and you seem to have more than one risk factor, so I think it's reasonable to wonder what was so important to return that you had to expose yourself and potentially others during a pandemic.
KatyMan
(4,183 posts)and Kohl's accepts Amazon returns at their service desk, so if you don't have one of those postal places nearby Kohl's might be the nearest place.
Just a guess tho.

(27,794 posts)I just don't know why someone with risk factors who is aware of the dangers of exposure can't find another option.
I totally get that people need to get out and have essential things they need to get done. An Amazon return doesn't seem top of the list to me. That's the point I don't seem able to get across.

Take care, Boxerfan, hopefully it is just a cold or spring allergies.

(2,533 posts)I am running a mild fever . But I am actually feeling a tad better. They said a Nurse will call back I doubt they will test. I'm self quarantined for now.
Thanks for the replies & concern.
If I have a mild run of it that may be the best case scenario-IF I get immunity-and there is no guarantee from what I've read.
Tired of being afraid already.
I'm 62 with heart & lung pre existing issues. But as of now there is no change in my lungs but my bowels are acting up.
I've been using a stationary bike to improve my lung capacity & it has helped a lot so I hope that keeps me above water there.

(111,174 posts)are the hallmark symptoms. I hope you don't have it but the flu is certainly bad enough and it's out there, also.
I keep thinking this thing is diabolical enough that most transmission occurs before people feel ill.
Reducing our chances is the best we can do. It's a virus, all it wants to do is replicate.

Anyhow hoping for the best.
Just to clarify my initial "I did everything I could" I started self isolating 4 days before the CDC suggestion. No kisses or hugs in the family A stool by the door with hand sanitizer and fresh towel for anyone coming in the house. Started taking Elderberry along with my meds.
In 2 weeks I only went out twice. We needed to stock up & went to Walmart with my wife. Kept a fair distance & used sanitizer on the self check screen etc..
The 2nd trip I posted above.
Anyhow I'm able to type all this so definitely better but need more rest. And I hope this is a mild flu but as we don't test how the hell do I know?
