Gov. Cuomo announced today that New York State is producing hand sanitizer. The governor says it is cheaper to make ourselves than purchase it. He says they will give it to schools, jails, government agencies, etc. If price gouging continues, Cuomo says they will start selling it

9. Make your own with rubbing alcohol and aloe vera gel.

It will smell like rubbing alcohol but it won't be perfumed. It's the alcohol that does the disinfecting; the aloe vera is to keep the alcohol from drying your skin.

10. It is very difficult to make properly formulated and sterile hand sanitizer at home.

Wash your hands using plain soap and water and don’t touch your face.

The state aims to make 100,000 gallons per week and the product is manufactured by Corcraft Products, run by the Department of Correctional Services, Division of Industries. The organization uses labor from inmates of New York’s prison system, claiming to “employ inmates in substantive jobs that help teach a good work ethic and valuable work skills,” according to the website.
