None of the old ladies can be persuaded to stay away from it.

7. Maybe the women's club itself will cancel the game

perhaps a phone call, just to 'check in and see if it's cancelled?'

Will spark some thoughtfulness on the part of the club

you'd think they would know better.

(I live in NE, btw - but my home town is right next to New Rochelle. So, I know it well!)

13. Epidemiology expert Dr. Schaffner says his wife is cancelling her bridge playing.

I hope your aunt will, too

https://ktvz.com/health/2020/03/06/new-cdc-guidance-says-older-adults-should-stay-at-home-as-much-as-possible-due-to-coronavirus/

..."Dr. William Schaffner, a Vanderbilt University professor and longtime adviser to the CDC, said these two groups should consider avoiding activities such as traveling by airplane, going to movie theaters, attending family events, shopping at crowded malls, and going to religious services.

People in these two groups “should strongly consider not doing these activities at this juncture,” Schaffner said.

“This ought to be top of mind for people over 60, and those with underlying health problems, such as heart or lung disease, diabetes, or compromised immune systems,” Schaffner added. “The single most important thing you can do to avoid the virus is reduce your face to face contact with people.”
.....
"When my wife and I need to go shopping, we’re going late at night when there are no crowds, and we get in and out efficiently,” Schaffner said.

He added that his wife goes to a bridge club with dozens of other people — but not anymore.

“She enjoys bridge and it’s an important part of her life and it keeps her mentally active, but she’s going to give it up for a while,” he said."...(more)

If they can stay home and reduce exposure as much as possible, they should be able to stay healthy. Best of luck to them and your family. I'm in BK and just listened to the mayor's press conference while working from home. Luckily, we can do all we can to stay healthy while going about our day. I"m worried about school (have a 9 yo), but we are all practicing best health practices.

I work at a major hospital in Seattle. I talk about it enough. We have all been specially trained for PPEs in case we have a corona patient.

My youngest daughter had been sick for a month with a respiratory illness, she, like my just like my husband, has multiple sclerosis, although she has a milder form of it. Still, she’s on disease modifying immunosuppressive therapy.

They treated it conservatively at first, then they gave her antibiotics, they swabbed her for respiratory infection (don’t know about corona)

What they didn’t do was draw any labs, or get a chest X-ray. Now I seriously doubt this is the corona virus, but I think she has an inflamed airway and needs steroid, a chest X-ray, and a duoneb type inhaler.

Guess who waiting for hours and hour and is going back to urgent care for the third time?

And yeah I’m pissed at the trajectory of the care of her illness, but here’s the kicker. What if it WAS Covid-19? She’s been at work, she’s been in the community she’s been at the doctors.

Today her doctors office is screening her, to “see if she needs to come in” thus the trip to urgent care.

This is a cluster fuck of epic proportions.
