I don't know all the details, I look forward to the definitive investigative report on this. But whatever the reasons, it seems that we are behind most of the developed world in coronavirus testing going. I don't know how much CDC budget cuts had to do with it, or replacing career people in the government with yes-men lackeys, or how much the Trump directive to pretend there was no such thing as coronavirus, or anything else.

Also, evidently, a few weeks ago when the WHO was distributing tests to different countries, the US said no, and the CDC decided to develop their own test instead. There may have been a legitimate reason for this, but turning down assistance from an international body like the WHO "becuz Merica" sounds exactly like the kind of thing Trump would do.

I have a friend who has flu symptoms. Probably not coronavirus, it's a productive cough with a very low fever. But still, the fact that it's virtually impossible to get tested for coronavirus here, whereas in South Korea they have drive-thru testing that takes less than a half hour, is infuriating.

We need to get Trump out. This is insane.

Also the CDC said last Friday they're not going to report cases any longer and leaving the reporting of testing up to the states which is beyond assinine.

3. The world's leading public health organization is WHO, not the CDC.

WHO's influence may not be as strong as it once was, but its scope is significantly wider than the CDC's. One is national; one is international.

Their response has certainly been more proactive, particularly on an international scale.
