As an RTO in the field, it really sucked trying to talk on the radio with a mask on, although we did wear the charcoal lined suits under our BTUs as extra winter clothing sometimes, which worked pretty well. Think they made us suit up for eight hours straight during a unit evaluation once.
I was also trained for hazmat in my civilian life, and those suits get really hot, really fast. Don't envy anyone who has to suit up.
