Shocking First Hand Corona Virus report from Italy

This was re-tweeted by Sahil Kapur from NBC News. It's a very disturbing series of tweets describing the situation in the hospitals in the Lombardy region in northern Italy.

After hearing Trump give imbecilic interviews on the news the last few days, I can't help but feel we, as a nation, are not prepared for what is coming our way with this pandemic virus.

Please contact your members of Congress and Senators and demand concrete, organized efforts immediately.

4/ We’ve stopped all routine, all ORs have been converted to ITUs and they are now diverting or not treating all other emergencies like trauma or strokes. There are hundreds of pts with severe resp failure and many of them do not have access to anything above a reservoir mask.

5/ Patients above 65 or younger with comorbidities are not even assessed by ITU, I am not saying not tubed, I’m saying not assessed and no ITU staff attends when they arrest. Staff are working as much as they can but they are starting to get sick and are emotionally overwhelmed.

Short version: If you have a pre-existing condition, you are going to die. If you are over 65, you are going to die. They don't have the resources or time to deal with you. They won't even assess you. Die. Die. Die.

there’s a 25% chance I’ll be dead this time next year. I have cystic fibrosis with only 50% lung function left. If I catch this, I’m dead. I’m planning on self-quarantining as much as possible with my mom going shopping for me and wiping down everything that enters this house. I know I sound cuckoo but I really can’t afford to catch this thing. I want to survive to vote Trump out of office lol.
