States need to start acting on their own, full testing, imo. I think it's likely worse here than Italy, and they shut their country down!

(15,078 posts)It's up to the states to handle this. If he won't let the CDC act, then it's out of the feds hands. Stanford University has developed a test, so the governors need to work with them.
This is sick! No pun intended.

(26,579 posts)As far as I'm aware, both states still have testing criteria that keep them from testing the vast majority of potential cases.
They should both just act as if the federal government doesn't even exist, for purposes of dealing with this virus.

(14,961 posts)of, is Iran....that is a very bad thing. Their actual death numbers are hundreds more than their official CFR. This has been leaked by several Iranian doctors. They tried the same crap by pretending it wasn't a big deal, until one day it got ahead of them, this will happen here.
Rachel Maddow covered this last night, her A block totally worth it. Sorry this is only the podcast, I can't find any video.

(16,616 posts)we're being told? (I mean, on purpose, deliberately distorted as opposed to undiagnosed cases where people die and they think it's something else?) And the infection numbers?
I've been relying on the NYT tracker. But do you think it's accurate?

(14,961 posts)with a few exceptions is operating under a Don't test, Don't tell policy.
I had someone the other day swear there no cases in their state, just because they aren't confirmed doesn't mean they aren't there and likely being misdiagnosed.

(14,961 posts)Think about all the seaports/airports throughout this country, they have only banned travel from China and that's air travel. On Morning Joe yesterday, a researcher was quoted, there are likely at least 20,000 cases in the US by now, another researcher I read about, thinks 9,000.
It seems the blue states other than Colorado(whole other issue there), are really trying, the red states are seriously up Trump's ass. I am in Florida, we have a huge at risk population in a state that depends in tourism dollars, we are driving 1000mph into a brick wall here.
Last night Rachel covered the dangers of what this POS administration is doing, like how the CDC wanted a travel ban on all those over the age of 60, but they wouldn't allow it. Sorry, I couldn't find video, it's the podcast, her A block is totally worth your time.

(33,309 posts)A couple of weeks ago, I was telling family and friends that seaports and airports are coronavirus distribution centers. Now it includes churches, malls, stores, theaters, sporting events and campaign rallies.
It's insane that you have to practically prove you have the virus before you can get tested. This stupid policy will enable rapid spread.
We're on our own.

(9,874 posts)CDC won't lie about the numbers. But they don't know what the real numbers are because not enough people are being tested. I suspect Trump doesn't really want those test kits readily available.
