I apologize in advance for any dismay you may experience from comparing America's crisis-handling with Taiwan's.
On Dec. 31, the same day China notified the World Health Organization that it had several cases of an unknown pneumonia, Taiwans Centers for Disease Control immediately ordered inspections of passengers arriving on flights from Wuhan.

Shortly after the team returned (from visiting the Chinese mainland), Taiwan began requiring hospitals to test for and report cases. That helped the government identify those infected, trace their contacts and isolate everyone involved, preventing the virus from spreading to the community.
...
To ensure a steady supply of masks, the government quickly banned manufacturers from exporting them, implemented a rationing system and set the price at just 16 cents each.
...
The government also asked television and radio stations to broadcast hourly public service announcements on how the virus is spread, the importance of washing hands properly, and when to wear a mask. We think only when information is transparent, and people have sufficient medical knowledge, will their fear be reduced, Kolas, the government spokeswoman, said.

(58,598 posts)1. Those look more like anti-cheating screens for testing...
not exactly 'medical' screens.
But, yeah, we could learn something from other countries, assuming we could learn anything, which our current presidunce can't.

(51,565 posts)3. We used them at my elem school
where I was a teacher. They are called "privacy boards". It is to allow kids to focus on their work since they sit at group tables and easily get distracted. They also cut down on cheating. In my class we voted all the time so we used them as voting booths (it was a very pro-voters' rights/democratic classroom). They LOVED it.
