Decision needed by late May. This thing could be at crisis level in this country at that point.

Italy has already had to cancel their swimming Olympic trials which were scheduled for next week.

New event. That tour is on more than a month forced break due to many events canceled overseas due to the virus.

I'm kind of using the mid May event as a reference point toward where the country will be in general at that time.

Countless Olympians will only be in their prime during these Games alone. For example, swimmers like Caeleb Dressel and Regan Smith are basically unknown to the general public now. But if they performed as expected they would soar to Katie Ledecky-type name recognition in Tokyo.

Instead they might do something more along the lines of pay-per-view or just on cable and make their money through advertising. I think it depends on how fast we see this spreading over the next couple weeks.

Parking
Drinks
Food

Pre-game dinners and hotel stays. There tend to be a whole establishment of restaurants and hotels around (sometimes inside) big arenas.

The states may shut events like this down for a while. Honestly I think we will know more in 2 weeks when we see what the numbers are looking like.

We can't trust any numbers from China. The Party's prime directive is STABILITY.

Frankly, not being a conspiracy theorist, all these closures tell me the decision makers are getting info we aren't.....or they just don't want to be open to the liability
