(35,300 posts)There aren't front-page NYT stories about it, but if you rummage in the underbrush you read stories that fill in what the NYT doesn't bother with.
For example, about how Xi visited a province and in the background there was a steel mill up and running--with concern about the ability to ramp up production quickly enough to meet demand from the factories that had resumed work. The story wasn't, "Factory open." But Xi's visit. The word went out last week for a lot of factory employees to get back to work.
Now the question is whether the contagion will ramp up again or stay tamped down.
Read the totalitarian press long enough, and you realize that often the real story isn't what's in the headlines and the lede, but everything else.
