Coronavirus x-rays show terrifying damage in lungs of Covid-19 victims

The man who died had worked at a seafood market where the virus was thought to have originated (Image: RSNA)

There were extensive white patches in her chest scan and a "reversed halo sign" was observed in the left upper lobe, the medical journal Radiology reported.

A recent study of more than 1,000 patients, published in Radiology, found that chest CT scans were better than lab testing at diagnosing coronavirus at an early stage.

The researchers concluded that CT scans should be the primary screening method.

...even people that survive could suffer permanent damage to their lungs. You don’t see that mentioned as much.

That's another important reason this isn't "like the flu." Even survivors, young and old, have suffered irreparable and permanent lung damage.

Instead of a simple lab test?
There is a lot more CT scan capacity in this country than coronovirus lab testing capacity at the moment.
CT scans have side effects, but if someone has signs and symptoms already, why waste yhe reagents if the patient can go right to the scanner.
I'm saying this tongue in cheek, but I am unfortunately very serious as well. I'm a medical provider.
What a statement on this country's medical and public health systems.

$3000+

I doubt many insurance companies will cover. Trump will certainly NOT cover.

It has special receptors on the virus that are tuned to infect the cilia in the lungs. That is where it invades and starts replicating.

Case 1 - 59 year old female
Case 2 - 62 year old female
Case 3 - 45 year old female

No discussion of morbidity.

Images in Mirror look "enhanced".

is environmental I would think.

My father-in-law was in China in the 90's on an educational trip with other teachers and professors in our family and he collapsed and had to be sent home via air ambulance. He was in the hospital for 3 weeks with lung issues. He had been a heavy smoker, and that, in conjunction with the pollution (coal smoke and construction dust everywhere) damned near killed him.

So I have thought that many people in China have compromised lungs to begin with. This isn't completely anecdotal as several people in my family have worked with the Chinese on educational exchanges and have been there many times over the past decades. The air quality is very poor. My father-in-law went twice and got sick. He never could go back for health reasons.
