Of all the events/things being cancelled/avoided for COVID-19 containment purposes...

There is one I have not seen mentioned as often, or at all really. I've seen sporting events, parades, industry conferences, business meetings, classes at all levels of schooling, music concerts, air travel, cruises, to name a few... but i haven't seen churches announce they are canceling services or shutting down, nor have I seen people recommend as a general policy that people just not go to church.

It seems to me that if college classes, which have similar ranges in the size of the crowd and frequency of meeting as church services, are being canceled then religious gatherings should likewise be. Maybe it is happening and I'm just blind to it, but I haven't encountered it yet.

most of the churches are giving up the touchy-feely-huggy stuff that they so often do following Communion (and which I hate anyhow), but they are still holding services (large numbers of people sitting close together in one room). So we'll see how much longer that goes on.

just trying to thwart gawd's plan? If gawd doesn't plan for you to catch it, going to church won't change a thing.

No more handshaking, everybody’s sitting pretty far apart. It’s a big church maybe half full most of the time. I have to serve Communion this Sunday (in the little disposable cups) and after that I’ll see if I want to not go for a while or if we’ll have online services.
