General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsDid we really go from landing on the moon, eradicating smallpox to Jared "researching" coronavirus?
Which we can't really be sure if that means he's asking questions on Yahoo Answers asking how the left is trying to make Trump look bad through the virus and/or if he's walking around the west wing with a vial full of the virus and asking it "What do you want?" and "What's your game?"
It's quite breathtaking that we've fallen so far.

(5,366 posts)goes through the growth phase, where things develop in seemingly endless bounty and sophistication, then to a steady state phase, then a slow decline.
Sorry America, but I think i know which stage you are at.
There may be a slow devolution into separate colonies, with the occasional war fought between them, before there is a total collapse and the much reduced in numbers Mixed Tribes of America start a long exodus out, looking for a better place to live.
<I could be wrong though.>

(35,041 posts)Got washed-up celebrity presidents, political discourse being reduced to "owning the libs", sane people having to deal with "equal time" with QAnon-crackpots and white nationalists, and the latest medical innovation being shipping viagra faster rather than putting the next disease on the chopping block to be driven to extinction.
If that's not in the "decline" category, I don't know what is.
I'm an idealist though, and I think we can turn it around with enough hard work. And there have been some high points, don't get me wrong (The election of Barack Obama, more GLBTQ rights, a more diverse congress all come to mind), but 80's onward, it's kind of been pretty lousy culture and political landscape-wise for the US.

(779 posts)Jared is going to read up on it!!!
Who elected Jared? I thought he was a shop window dummy modeling a suit - like a human.
I did not know that he even speaks. Are we paying him?
How about the republicans reading up on it? Or heaven forbid, even Trump reading up on it, although I am not sure he can read.
Are we living in an alternate universe with the clowns making the rules?

(35,041 posts)He is now set to be the final sign-off on the White House coronavirus task force's recommendation to the president ahead of his address on Wednesday night, according to a report from Politico.
"The task force will not give Trump its final verdict" ahead of the address until Kushner "finishes his research and comes to a conclusion himself," Politico reported.

(694 posts)of Martin Luther King's assassination, on youtube every once in a while and think how far we have fallen. He was such an articulate, empathic, humane person. To compare what he offered as a leader, to what we now have now, engenders a true sense of surreal despair.
Yes, let Jared take a break from peace in the middle east to solve our coronavirus problem. That's the ticket.

(2,201 posts)trump should have picked someone else.
Having jared do this is going to use up valuable time that he would normally be using to finalize his plan for peace in the middle east.

(23,078 posts)Jared doesn't do anything except provide cover for ivanka and drumpf's sick relationship. If he does anything, it's totally bungled, so is that the plan here? I've thought all along he's doing this on purpose because it totally seems like he WANTS us sick and doesn't care if we die, as long as he profits mightily from the test kits and then the vaccinations later.
