MSNBC with KC Hunt is wearing a cowboy hat. My mom would come unglued.

(4,483 posts)Plus, a lot of these rude men are not even from Texas, which used to be an excuse. They just like the way they look in them. Jerks.

(2,042 posts)Only actual cowboys should wear cowboy hats. That sentiment has often gotten me in trouble in my home state but I make no apologies. People generally look stupid in them.

(4,305 posts)I had a friend visit me this summer and in the store she saw a "cowboy" and I had to break her heart that it was a pretend "cowboy". She asked me how I knew that and I told her that the hat was way too clean and the boots aren't even scuffed. Real cowboys and cowgirls work in their hats and boots.

(13,909 posts)has some actual cowboys but far more urban cowboys who wear expensive Stetsons and boots and who drive F-250 trucks that are perfectly clean and haul nothing.

My thing is: if you don't ride a horse and rope cattle for a living (guys I have true respect for, BTW...) you ain't no cowboy. But I see these guys occasionally. And it drives me crazy when they wear their hats indoors, at the table, or when talking to a lady, situations during which one always removes one's hat.
I know they see themselves as 'Southern gentlemen', but as someone raised to be a Southern gentleman myself, if you can't follow the rules, you don't belong in the club.
