(11,605 posts)Closing NYC schools would be a severe hardship for many parents, especially single parents, who are hourly workers and can't afford to take off and stay home with their kids. He said he'd shut down individual schools in the event anyone showed symptoms. So far that seems reasonable to me, but if it gets any worse it'll have to change.

(11,605 posts)My boss kept her kids home today even though theirs was one of the few Nassau schools open. The school said it wasn't even an excused absence.

(26,579 posts)just got pulled too. And we've just gotten Skype running on his tablet, so he's in heaven right now.
I'm betting there's a whole lot of parents pulling their kids right now, and the system eventually going to have to come to terms with it.
My mom's busy sending forcefully worded emails to various school administrators.
I really don't want to have to disenroll my kids.
