Earlier today, the VA called and asked me to cancel my tomorrow's appointment.

It was for a follow up, nothing serious as all my lab work came back normal.

The reason they wanted me to cancel was that many of the veterans who go to the clinic are in the high risk group. Elderly with serious health problems and they wanted to reduce their exposure to others as much as possible. I told the nurse that I was very happy to cancel as I also wanted to reduce my interactions with others.

The clinic called and asked us to reschedule to the end of the month, same reason.

I was a little peeved because it took forever to get him that appointment, but I was relieved as well. We're both in the high risk group, but I would have had to go with him because he doesn't drive. So I'd debated all morning--do I go in with him, or stay in the car while he handles that?

Then they made the decision for us. He can't put off this appointment forever (asthma medication renewals/testing), though, so I hope things aren't dire by the time they can see him.

.... so I'm calling the VA tomorrow to reschedule. Usually takes around a month or so to do that. Hopefully, things will be better by then.
