I first thought was, "if someone whose famous get it, people will care"...

the Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson announce they have it.

and I thought that would change the conversation to people believing...

it did, but not in the way I expected. right wing nut jobs on the various interweb forums lambasted them as "liberal freaks" who "deserved it".

so then I thought, okay, they're crazy and need to have one of their own contract it.

so far, none of the right wing famous people in self quarantine have come out has having it.

but then I thought, so what even if they do, the right wing nuts will say the "liberals gave it to them" or more than likely, it will morph into so sort of halfwit conspiracy theory.

this was not so much a rant as just me feeling sad for humanity.

Big pic. The realities of Trumpism are very slowly coming closer to people's 'homes'.

Illegitimi non carborundum is a mock-Latin aphorism, often translated as 'Don't let the bastards grind you down'. The phrase itself has no meaning in Latin and can only be mock-translated as a Latin–English pun.

Not everyone who gets it will die. Matter of fact, 80% of them will not be severe. The actual problem is when you have millions of people infected, even 5% of those are severe will overwhelm our hospitals capacity. We will reach a point that we don't have enough hospitals and equipment to treat everyone. Thus, having to decide who to treat (lower risk people) and who not to treat (higher risk people, old people, etc). So the problem isn't people dying from the disease outright. But that when we have too many critical patients, we don't have the capacity to treat them all.
