https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/13/world/coronavirus-news.htmlThe F.D.A. also made drastic changes to the team overseeing the distribution of tests, installing an assistant secretary, Adm. Brett P. Giroir, to oversee the efforts. The move was another indication of tension among top health officials.
On Thursday, under persistent questioning about exactly who was in charge of seeing that people who needed tests got them, top health officials were unable to provide a name. One of them, Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, finally responded: The system does not, is not really geared to what we need right now, what you are asking for. That is a failing. It is a failing, lets admit it.
The idea of anybody getting it, easily, the way people in other countries are doing it, we are not set up for that, Dr. Fauci added. Do I think we should be? Yes. But we are not.

Fire that man! He's telling the truth!
Trump has gutted so much of the Federal Government and installed useless toadies in important positions. So now that they actually need functioning departments, all we get is "shrug" and finger pointing.

Another senior administration official, speaking on condition of anonymity to talk candidly, said the concern now is less about the supply of tests than whether Americans can find easy and convenient places to get tested. Another concern is setting up testing sites so that they dont expose health workers and others to the virus.
The problem were experience is there is a surplus of lab tests available, but those labs and state and public health departments are not setting up effective mechanisms to get people testing, the official said, adding, there is no reason states cannot set up a drive-through a clinic in a parking lot for patients to be swabbed and specimens shipped off to labs to determine the results.
