She is 67, has MS, walks with two canes. Still drives.
We were talking about the virus, naturally, how pervasive and dangerous it is, how its nothing to take lightly, etc.
She and her husband have plans to go to Washington DC. this weekend. Stay at a hotel, Friday and Saturday night, come home Sunday. Its for some kind of meetings in regards to her husbands business. She admits she will be bored most of the time. I said gently maybe you guys might want to reconsider. She said it will be okay because they will be in a room with less than 50 people for the meetings. Im not comfortable with that, but feel all I can do is speak my piece, and again I said to her I wonder why that meeting hadnt been cancelled. I spoke with her yesterday (Thursday). She assured me they will be cautious.
Can anyone tell me how its going in Washington, D.C.? I worry about her with her health issues.

(9,975 posts)Not sure how many cases have been identified by now. There were 11 a few days ago.
They should not come.
ETA: Neighboring states of MD (where I live) and VA are under states of emergency too.

(21,945 posts)Everything is shut down here. Schools, events, museums, Capitol Building, etc. I'm sure they could still walk around and look at the open air monuments and that would be fine. But I don't think it's worth it to be honest. As to how it's going health-wise, it's the same as everywhere else: Nobody has any idea, because there isn't enough testing.
