As coronavirus spreads, CDC warns Americans about traveling within the U.S.

With the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 continuing to grow, public health officials have issued a warning to people thinking about traveling within the United States.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention posted a new guide Wednesday answering common questions about the risks the novel coronavirus pandemic poses to Americans traveling domestically.

“CDC does not generally issue advisories or restrictions for travel within the United States,” the agency said on its website. “However, cases of COVID-19 have been reported in many states, and some areas are experiencing community spread of the disease.”

Health officials warned that travelers are at high risk of contracting the illness in crowded places, including conferences, public events, religious gatherings, public spaces like movie theaters and shopping malls, and public transportation. The CDC also noted that going to an airport raises your risk of contracting the coronavirus if another traveler there has COVID-19.

as our Niece called saying her Father might not make it through the Summer. That is a three day road trip, and so many of the Motels along that route are questionable during non emergency times.

Pondering do I go or do I stay here hunkered down in my home. That is the question.

I drive rather than fly. The trip is 2 days long so there is a motel room involved both coming and going. I don't need to make my decision yet for a few days - 5 day window to cancel Zeus's reservation at the kennel without penalty.

ALL of my activities have been canceled so I am truly hunkered down. If I am smart, I use the extra free time to get some projects done. Pantry is well stocked, big stack of library books (yep, library is closing for 3 weeks as of 5:00 tonight) Good supply of dog food and treats. Plenty of wine and chocolate for me 🤣. I'm OK being alone, but 3 weeks is a long time. Good news spring is coming and I have tons of garden and yard work to do.
