After that, everybody on one side of the street hates the other side of the street for the next 100 years.

Singing in the face of death is a truly noble human trait, and so touching. But to be at this point...

In this country, you see something that dates back to the 1600's and you think, "Wow, that's old."

In Italy, that's like last week.

I've been there once, and I've hoped to be able to go back, doubt it will ever happen.

Oh, how this brought me joy and hope.

I am picturing the one drunk guy who doesn't realize it's 4 a.m. and he should stop singing.

I think this needs to be a global challenge. Next up? Switzerland and yodeling!

But for some reason this is making me want to cry. I think we’re in serious danger here. For the first time in my life, I’m truly concerned about the fate of humanity. I really hope we can get past this intact. I really hope we can do better after it’s over.

That negative slope from around 1350 to 1400 is Europe practically being emptied out by the Black Death.

If everyone on the planet got covid-19 and it was flat out 10% fatal it would be horrific, but humanity would still win.

It’s an incredibly beautiful country, but its people are truly fantastic—and passionate about all aspects of life, as these videos demonstrate. I’ve gone back to Italy four times since that first trip, and I never tire of the country.

I have had one anxious day. All the schools in the state closing, several businesses, and not certain how long my work will last. We are considered essential employees. I work for a tribe in Washington State. Trying to stay calm but the sense of not knowing what is coming down the road is getting to me. So very glad this thread was posted music always helps!

It reminds e of the ending of the film Chacun Cherche Son Chat when all the Parisians in the neighborhood, of all ages, religions, and backgrounds, get together in a cafe and start singing "Ca C'est Paris"

The complete lyrics in both Italian and English written by Goffredo Mameli and set to music by Michele Novaro in 1847 resonate these times as well.
