self-depreciating humor. It must have been doubly difficult considering he didn't have an audience.

(25,169 posts)He did an excellent job in spite of having no audience. Some of the staff of the show sat in the audience. Kimmel's people helped him along with old clips and a cute skit of Pete looking for a job now that he's not a candidate.
Kimmel's people handled the lack of having an audience with class and humor. The show didn't suffer and I hope they don't suspend production like Cobert.

I loved the segment with Sir Patrick Stewart. I didn't know mayor Pete was a Trekkie. It's too bad they couldn't shake hands and hug because I know he would have loved it!

(1,942 posts)I thought he did great. In the monologue he was little stiff, but also relaxed if that can make sense. That is, his delivery was natural and not like he was reading the cue cards the whole time. But he kind of stood in one spot, and seemed stiff. Once he was at the desk he was excellent. When he was talking to the guests he actually looked at them and was engaged in the conversation, not like he was setting up for the next joke or waiting for the cue to go to commercial. I loved it! (of course it didn't hurt that SirPatStew was on, lol)
