Last week this time, there were about 20 known deaths if I am not mistaken. Today known deaths is 50. So its more than doubled in 7 days. This should be alarming to everyone. All those folks that keep saying. If you are young, you have nothing to worry about. I think this is such a wrong headed message. I am younger, my parents have underlying health conditions. Those are manageable with their current medications and they fortunately have access to good healthcare. Life is unpredictable, but I foresee them being able to live for another 15-20 yrs or longer with their current conditions. I don't want to shorten the time I have left with them. So I, a younger person am terrified of getting Covid 19 and passing it on to them. Therefore, I have decided to not visit them for a while. I work in a community mental health clinic so I see a lot of patients daily, where theoretically it is possible for me to come into contact at some point with someone that is infected.
But back to my original point, the number of deaths has more than doubled since last Saturday. That to me really stands out. If we continue doubling the death rate, we are really in trouble. Stop saying young people have nothing to worry about. We are worried about our loved ones.
