He is pragmatic and a deal maker that looked after his own self-interest for a long time. He's gotten better, but the ideologues don't like him because he wasn't 100% against fracking right away.

the standards here in New Mexico he looks pretty good. If I was a New Yorker and saw him every day my opinion might be different. Although our current governor is pretty good and a huge step up from the corrupt and incompetent Susana Martinez.

but the question is about him as a veep candidate and all I can say is, he's no Mario Cuomo.

but I think our political situation is pretty good. We have a Democratic house and Senate and a Democratic governor. The one thing I was disappointed in was the failure to legalize marijuana.

He's not great for getting progressive change through, but is deeply steady in situations like this. He's understood the mechanisms of NY State government since he was a teenager, of course.

and I know we aren't swinging on the barn door like people in states with less competent governors.

That being said, the VP needs to be a black woman.
